What is the African Nightcrawler?
The African Nightcrawler Eudrilus eugeniae is part of a family of earthworms that were mostly found in Africa. The use of African Nightcrawlers however, has lead it to become widely distributed all over the world.
These worms are abundant producers of worm castings or vermicast, which are used to enrich composts and soils for agricultural purposes.
Vermicasts are considered to be nature’s best organic fertilizer. Vermicast is the excrement of worms otherwise known as worm poo.
At Felicidad Orchard, we recruit the help of thousands of worms in order to produce tons of vermicast per day. These worms are not your typical earthworms; they are of a special species known as the African Nightcrawler.
